You might know logically that there’s nothing to fear. You might know you’re capable of performing well. You might understand exactly why you react the way you do. And yet, the response still happens.
That’s where BWRT® can be different.
BrainWorking Recursive Therapy® works with the automatic responses that can happen before conscious thought has had a chance to intervene. Rather than simply helping you manage an unwanted response, BWRT® is designed to help you create a different one. Whether you want to overcome a fear, build confidence, improve performance, change an unwanted habit, move beyond something from your past, or make a deeper change in how you see yourself, BWRT® offers a focused, solution-oriented approach. You don't have to spend months talking about the problem. We focus on how you feel now, and how you want to feel instead.
What is BWRT®?
BWRT® stands for BrainWorking Recursive Therapy®, a model of psychology and psychotherapy created by UK therapist Terence Watts.
One of the features many clients appreciate is BWRT's “core of privacy.” You don't necessarily need to disclose every detail of an experience or situation in order to work on your response to it. In many cases, what matters is how you currently respond, and how you would prefer to respond instead.
BWRT® is solution-focused, and draws on concepts relating to the way the brain processes and responds to information. Different BWRT® protocols allow us to work at different levels, from specific fears and unwanted responses through to confidence, performance, identity, behaviour and more complex patterns.

Meet Laura McDonald - BWRT® Advanced Practitioner|Supervisor | Accredited Mentor
I'm Laura McDonald, a therapist with over 21 years' experience and more than 13 years' experience using BWRT® in my practice.
I work across BWRT® Levels 1, 2 and 3, allowing us to choose an approach appropriate to what you want to change, whether that's a specific fear or response, confidence and performance, identity and behaviour, or more complex mind-body patterns. My approach is practical, focused and individual to you. The emphasis isn't on endlessly analysing what's wrong. It's on helping you move towards how you want to think, feel and respond instead.
